Endowments

Endowments help to ensure that MHA C-A can continue to work for the mental health of our community. This is a critical way to ensure that services are available in times of crisis and everyday as demand for help continues to grow. Endowments are also an indication that our community thinks that it is worth investing in MHA C-A to help defeat mental illness and create a community that is promotes mental health.

The Dofflemeyer Endowment operates much like any savings and investment portfolio. The principal is invested and grows over time, and each year MHA C-A spends a small percentage of the interest to support operations. The endowment principal must grow through donations if MHA C-A is to have a long term financial future.

The endowment is managed and invested on our behalf by the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation. The CACF has an impressive record of stewarding charitable giving and of careful management. We are pleased to have access to their skilled fiscal services.
